You definitely do not want to advertise a program you are an affiliate to, because that person will be lost to you forever as far as interesting them in other programs you belong to.

Initially the only places to advertise were Safelists, Traffic Exchanges and similar programs.   But this has all changed with the advent of Web 2.0 programs.   One Web 2.0 program, i.e. Forums have been around for some time.  As have Blogs.

But we start with a Web 1.0 program:  Safelists.
